1. The main idea is that it is explaining what type of narrative it is and how it is a story about something being recorded.
2.what I found funny was this little snippet “ I had once been a grocery clerk but had consumed so much sugar in that time that I was relieved from further duty proprietor”. So basically it’s funny because he was working at a supermarket and he ate so much sugar he got fired.
3.he uses very intricate and big words which might make it humorous.
